Samsung Smart Watch rumours: What we would like to see

1o years of FOE death

City back fans' tribute to Foe during West Ham clash

Manchester City plan to join fans in paying tribute to Marc-Vivien Foe during Saturday's visit of West Ham to honour the memory of the midfielder who tragically died 10 years ago.
The club will show an image of Foe, who played for both City and the Hammers, on the electronic boards in the Etihad after 23 minutes and fans of both clubs will be asked to join in a minute's applause to pay tribute to the Blues' former No 23.
The Cameroonian collapsed during the Confederations Cup semi-final against Colombia on June 26, 2003 and passed away shortly afterwards despite attempts to resuscitate the 28-year-old.

Foe, who also had spells with French sides Lens and Lyon, died following a cardiac arrest. He had the same hereditary heart condition (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) which caused former Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba to collapse on the pitch last year.
Muamba thankfully survived but later retired from the game.
West Ham signed Foe for a club record of £4.2million in 1999 before returning to France with Lyon in 2000. He then joined City on loan in 2002 and scored nine times for the club from midfield in his sole season in Manchester. He was the last City player to score at Maine Road.
City have since retired the No 23 shirt that Foe wore during his time in the North West.
The idea to applaud on the 23rd minute originated from City fans themselves, with supporters airing their views for the best way to tribute Foe on club forums.

On the 23rd minute, the club will show Foe's portrait on the electronic boards to ensure both sets of fans know to applaud at that time.
There will also be a feature on Foe in the matchday programme and the former fans favourite for both clubs will be pictured on the front cover.
Although it is another two months until the 10-year anniversary of Foe's death, the club and fans believe the match between his two former teams this weekend is the most appropriate time available to honour his memory.
Word of the tribute to Foe is being spread on Twitter under the hashtag #RememberFoeOn23.
One post on mcfcforum.com read: 'On the 27th April, City host West Ham United in the league. How fitting would it be to have the entire stadium applaud and celebrate Foe's life for one minute in the 23rd?
'I am here to ask you all to spread the word amongst your fellow Citizens and Hammers fans. Many of you will not be aware, but there was to be a City v Lyon/West Ham XI game but for reasons unknown it was cancelled.
'That would have been a fitting tribute, but now we as fans, together, can perform our own.'
The Marc-Vivien Foe Fund, aimed at financing research on cardiac arrest, was launched in November 2010 and was backed by the footballer's widow, Marie-Louise.

BOXING DAYYYYYYY MARTINEZZ AND MURRAY

back to boing Murray has no doubt he can upset Martinez as pair weigh in for world

St Helens middleweight Martin Murray is fiercely focused on springing a huge upset when he tackles homecoming hero and WBC champion Sergio Martinez in Buenos Aires tomorrow night.
Murray, an undefeated former British and Commonwealth title-holder, is a massive underdog ahead of his trip into the lion's den of the Estadio Jose Amalfitani, where a partisan crowd in excess of 40,000 will give their vociferous backing to pound-for-pound star Martinez.
The 38-year-old is boxing in his native Argentina for the first time since February 2002 - jobbing bouts in the Spain and the UK followed before a move Stateside to complete a tirelessly earned journey to world-title glory for one of boxing's most highly respected practitioners.

In 28 bouts since beating countryman Francisco Antonio Mora, Martinez has tasted defeat only once - a highly controversial points defeat to American Paul Williams in December 2009 that was avenged by a brutal one-punch knockout triumph a year later.
More recent successes have come with wins over British duo Darren Barker and Matthew Macklin, both halted in 11 rounds following earlier encouragement against the lavishly gifted southpaw, but Murray is confident he can go one better than his domestic rivals.
'I've not come over here to lose or to make numbers up,' said the 30-year-old during conference call to round off a hectic promotional schedule. 'I've trained hard and I truly believe I can win.
'Sergio's a great fighter who I've looked up to over the past couple of years but I truly think it's my time.
'Whatever Sergio brings on Saturday I'll be ready for and I'm just looking forward to being in a great fight.'

Murray finds himself in the thick of a highly-competitive world middleweight scene on merit, having previously performed impressively when thrown into a tough assignment on foreign soil.
Few observers gave a fighter barely tested beyond domestic level much hope when thrust into a challenge for then WBA ruler Felix Sturm's belt in Mannheim, Germany 16 months ago.
But Murray grasped his opportunity impressively, doing enough in the eyes of many to dethrone the experienced champion before a 12-round draw was announced - the only time he has failed to emerge victorious in 26 professional contests.
'The Felix Sturm fight was a great learning experience for me,' he explained. 'Loads of things I learnt there I'm going to be bringing into this fight with me.
'I know Saturday is going to have to be the best performance from me but it's a performance I'm well capable of producing.
'The fact that it's against such a great fighter in his homeland has got me up for it. I have to raise my game and will raise my game on Saturday.
'I'm looking forward to putting all my hard training to good use and coming out victorious.'
