@eliudprom Samsung launches a TV with a CURVED screen

@eliudprom Samsung launches a TV with a CURVED screen to improve viewing quality

Samsung has officially launched its first super-thin curved TV screen with a price tag of £8,500 ($13,000) - five times more than its flat-screen equivalents.
The 55-inch model has a high-resolution OLED display and its design means the screen is an equal distance from the viewer at all times.
It is now on sale in South Korea but Samsung told Reuters the set will be made available in other countries from July - the first time a curved TV of its kind has been sold outside of Asia.

Kim Hyunsuk, Samsung executive vice president stands with a model next to the company's new OLED curved TV screen.

At the time, Samsung's curved screen was the world's first yet delays in the manufacturing process meant that rival LG beat the company to selling the device. The Korean company announced the television during the Consumer Electronics Show in January this year.
Speaking at the launch event Kim Hyunsuk, Samsung executive vice president, said: 'We have just introduced our first OLED TV and have to see consumer response to gauge overall market demand.'
Samsung said it will begin selling its curved OLED television outside South Korea from July but did not specify which countries.
It also said it has no plans to offer a non-curved one this year.

The concave display gives viewers a sense of being immersed in the images.
Samsung claims its 'Timeless Arena' design reduces the chance of images appearing pixelated, too.
The 55-inch OLED screen also supports Samsung TV features such as multi-view that lets two people watch different things at the same time.

1ST OF WEST AND KIMBABY NORTH WEST

@eliudprom! North West's first days with Kim Kardashian and Kanye (

They are yet to release the first image of their new-born baby North West.
But now, thanks to photographer Alison Jackson, we have been offered an hilarious insight into Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s daughter’s first days.
And of course while there’s the normal baby stuff – nappies, baths and cuddles - there’s also the not so ordinary which many might imagine goes on when the worlds of Kim and Kanye collide.
Introducing North West! Photographer Alison Jackson used look-a-likes to create these images of Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and their daughter

The parody pictures, created using look-a-likes, show North’s, who was born on June 15th, first moments in the hospital.

A heavily made up Kim cradles her new-born while proud father Kanye, who is wearing the shutter shades he made famous, leans into her.
And in true Kardashian style a video camera reading the words ‘reality TV’ is pointed right at them, making light of the fact the family are known for filming almost their every waking second.

Once back at their house the couple are seen fulfilling various parental duties with their darling daughter.
Rather amusingly one image shows the reality star and rapper searching through baby name books looking for the perfect one.
Kim is pointing at the name Kaidence which is one she mentioned liking before giving birth, although of course the couple eventually picked North (or Nori for short).

Perhaps poking fun at the influence Kanye seems to have over Kim he is seen dressing his daughter in a pair of shutter shades, which makes the notoriously grumpy star grin widely.
Another sees him putting headphones, perhaps with his album Jeezus blaring out, on his baby which makes her cry, suggesting she is not a fan of the album which is currently No. 1 in the UK.
Kim meanwhile is seen cooing over her little one as she baths with Kanye and then gazing lovingly at her new family unit as they lie on the bed.

Ever the fan of dressing up the 32-year-old new mum is seen putting a very bling tiara on her daughter as well as a large diamond dollar sign necklace, which again is no doubt Kanye’s influence.
An image, which is of Kim before giving birth, shows her indulging in heaps of junk food, poking fun at the constant references to her putting on weight during her pregnancy.
It seems these pictures will have to satisfy fans for the meantime as there is no sign of the couple sharing real images any time soon.
Rare: The rapper rarely smiles in real life but it seems his little girl can make him do just that

    Hungary 10 El Salvador 1 (June 15, 1982)
As it stands this is the only time a team has scored 10 goals at the World Cup finals in one game and is also the joint biggest win.
Laszlo Kiss scored a hat-trick for the Hungarians, who despite this huge victory would still tumble out of the group stage after a 4-1 defeat against world champions Argentina and a 1-1 draw against Belgium.

Obviously they went home at the same time as El Salvador, who impressively off the back of this disaster only lost to Belgium 1-0 and Argentina 2-0. Luis Ramirez scored their only strike against Hungary, and he wasn’t going to let the fact they were already 5-0 down ruin his celebration.
    Maldives 0 Iran 17 (June 2, 1997)
These days the Asia section of qualifying for the World Cup is a much neater structure, but back in 1997 it gave us some ridiculous matches that made a mockery of the first group stage.
One such clash was the opening game in Group 2 when Iran travelled to Damascus to effortlessly place 17 goals past a hapless Maldives team. The Iranians were a handy side and would eventually reach France 98 and their first World Cup in 24 years.

The Maldives looked horribly out of place and in losing 12-0 (twice) to Syria ended the group stage having lost all six games, failing to score and conceding a horrendous 59 goals – an average of just under 10-a-game.
    American Samoa 0 Australia 31 (April 11, 2001)
You know you have just seen a total annihilation when even the operator of the scoreboard loses count.
Australia’s 31-0 win over American Samoa in a 2002 World Cup qualifier is a record for an international match and saw Archie Thompson score a ridiculous 13 goals during the game.

The result came just two days after the Aussies beat Tonga 22-0 and they would finish the first qualifying stage with a record of four wins from as many matches - scoring 66 goals in the process.
To sum up the level of quality of their opponents, Australia still didn’t reach the World Cup.
    San Marino 0 Germany 13 (September 6, 2006)
San Marino have always been the whipping boys when it comes to qualifying for major tournaments in Europe, but even they hit a new low during the race to reach Euro 2008.

Lucas Podolski top scored with four strikes during this match in what is the current biggest winning margin in qualification for the European Championships and San Marino’s biggest defeat.
The greatest surprise came in the return fixture at Nuremburg when the Germans took as much as 45 minutes to fire in their first goal in a 6-0 victory.

    Holland 11 San Marino 0 (September 2, 2011)
For those that remember Euro 2012, Holland departed the tournament in disastrous fashion after losing all three group games in Poland/Ukraine.

Qualifying for the European Championships was a completely different matter though as they won their first nine matches to easily reach the finals.

Lionel Messi's lawyers insist the tax fraud allegations are baseless but say he will settle any outstanding obligations if needed.
Law firm Juarez Veciana said in a statement that the Barcelona forward 'scrupulously complies with Spanish legislation.'
Messi and his father Jorge have been ordered to appear before court in the town of Gava near Barcelona on September 17 to answer allegations they owe £3.4million in back taxes from 2007 to 2009.

Court case: The Barcelona star's legal team insist he is not guilty of evading taxes through image rights
'We declare that our client will pay the amount determined,' Messi's lawyers said. 'But we believe that our client has already paid what was legally obliged.'
The state prosecutor alleges Messi and his father used shell companies in Belize and Uruguay to avoid paying taxes on revenues from image rights.
The complaint lists Messi's sponsors from the period under investigation. They include Barcelona, Adidas, Danone, Konami, Procter & Gamble, Pepsi-Cola and Telefonica, among several others.
If charged and found guilty - and barring an out-of-court deal - Messi and his father could face a fine amounting to 150 per cent of the concealed earnings and between two and six years in prison.

Messi has denied any wrongdoing and has received public backing from Barcelona club president Sandro Rosell and predecessor Joan Laporta - who was in charge during the years of the allegations.
The 25-year-old scored an incredible 60 goals in Spain last season to lead Barcelona to their fourth domestic title in five seasons.
He is rated by Forbes as the world's 10th highest-paid athlete after reportedly earning £26.7m to June this year, with £13.1m coming from his club salary and £13.6million in endorsements.
Messi's court date may clash with Barcelona's opening game in the Champions League next season, to be played on either September 17 or 18.
