Halle’s Ex Gabriel Aubry Investigated For Battery, Child Endangerment

Ugh, and the day was going so well, too. According to TMZ, Halle Berry‘s ex Gabriel Aubry is being investigated for misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor child neglect after allegedly shoving and verbally attacking his nanny. According to their caregiver, who works for both Berry and Aubry, Halle’s ex pushed her into a door while arguing over why daughter Nahla Ariela was not taken to school by Aubry. The fact that the nanny was holding Gabriel and Halle’s daughter at the time of the altercation is what spurred a child endangerment investigation. It’s also spurring us to purse our lips together and shake our heads in utter dismay.
If you recall, Halle and Gabriel spent much of 2011 in and out of court in a dispute that seemed to be approaching a custody battle. We can’t imagine this will help such an already tense situation. More shoving almost never does.

Michael Fassbender’s On-Camera Pee, And Other Oscar Roundtable Moments

Whether they’re peeing in front of a camera, talking about their bat nipples or discussing people slicing off their toes, celebrities truly are just like us. And by us, we mean giant weirdos. When Newsweek assembled George ClooneyTilda SwintonViola Davis, Charlize TheronChristopher Plummer and Michael Fassbender for their Oscar roundtable, plenty of creepy stories and awkward moments started to emerge. “I did actually pee on-camera, ” Fassbender admits about his starring role in Shame, explaining that he got it done in three takes. “Hard to stop, isn’t it?” Clooney blurts gleefully. Other delightfully off-putting moments that cropped up during the stars’ discussion included:
  • Clooney’s depressing shoe salesman years. “There was a whole generation of women who had a toe cut off to fit in tight pumps,” he…jokes?
  • Charlize Theron commanding that Viola Davis recognize, “You’re hot as sh–!”
  • Clooney’s defense of the Batman sequels, which gets derailed by Tilda Swinton’s memory of his prominent rubber batsuit nipples. “Had I known they were going to put nipples on the thing, I would have rethought it,” George sighs.
  • Christopher Plummer’s very real beef with Tree of Life director Terrence Malick, saying of his experience making Malick’s film The New World, “I gave him sh–. I’ll never work with him again.”
  • Charlize’s amazing impression of Kristen Wiig in Bridesmaids.
So … can we give all of them an Oscar for all this riffing? Or just to Tilda Swinton for uttering the phrase, “There are laws about erections now, aren’t there?” We don’t need all those short film Oscars. Just swap one of them out and no one will be the wiser.

Sundance 2012: Stars Show Off Their Winter Best

“I am such a weird snow bunny,” MADtv alum Arden Myrin told VH1 News at Sundanceover the weekend. “I have 40,000 outfit changes. I’ve got like 14 hats.”
Arden is bunny-hopping from her small-screen role in Suburgatory to two films appearing at Sundance, Wrong (about a man’s search for his lost dog) and Bachelorette (starringKirsten DunstIsla FisherRebel Wilson and James Marsden). And she’s one of many actors, musicians and filmmakers relishing the chance to don their best knits, boots, scarves, furs and puffy coats in Park City this week. We like seeing them all bundled up like the rest of us who don’t reside in sunny California. Everyone from Coco to Robert Redford to Chris Rock to Skylar Grey ditched their typical red-carpet style for cozier gear. Check out the gallery below for a whole bunch of stars wearing their winter best. And come back soon for more photos from the film festival.

Heidi And Seal: A Look Back At Insane Cuteness And Insane Costumes

We can’t be the only ones whose weekend was ruined by the news that Heidi Klumand Seal are breaking up. They seemed like the ideal couple! In every single picture they’re either kissing or wearing insanely elaborate matching costumes. Honestly, we don’t know how to cope with the thought of never seeing them together at their annual Halloween Ball ever again. So to stave off the impending panic attack, we created the gallery below to relive the good old days. Click away to view the insane cuteness and the insane costumes!

Chris Brown Denies Rihanna Dating Rumors, Thankfully

You can uncross your fingers and keister your rabbit’s foot, you guys. According to the “Tonight” singer’s rep, Chris Brown and Rihanna are not dating, but rather merely friends. We should hope so! These two have come too far and taken up too many existentially depressing blog inches to turn back the clock now!
The rumors of their illicit canoodling were fueled this weekend when RiRi and CB wereboth spotted at nightclub Greystone Manor in Hollywood around the same time. But until we see Chris Brown and Rihanna ride away from a club in an elaborate horse-drawn carriage to the strains of Pachelbel’s “Canon,” we’re going to assume these kinds of run-ins are pure accidental. If that doesn’t convince you, keep in mind that Chris’ current lady friend, model Karrueche Tran, was also in attendance at the bar on Sunday, making the likelihood of a late-night rendezvous between exes slim to none. We like those odds.

Michael Cera Does A Bad Job Of Selling Us On Sundance

There was a minute there when Michael Cera was everywhere we turned, going from the awkward cult fave star of Arrested Development to the awkward ubiquitous star ofJunoSuperbadNick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Youth in Revolt. It was a little much. But he probably realized this as well and seems to have taken a pause from flooding our screens. And in that time, he seems to have grown the silliest mustache we’ve ever seen. Well, VH1 News didn’t let funny facial hair get in the way of asking the indie-film vet for a rundown of all there is to see and do at theSundance Film Festival. Would he praise the snow? The gifts? The great film? The incredible networking opportunities? The parties? See for yourself.
George Michael couldn’t have said it better himself. Well, we hope he’s selling his Sundance movie, The End of Love (which looks to be a real tearjerker) with a little more, er, enthusiasm?

Breaking Dawn Part 1 On Track To Be Highest-Grossing Twilight Pic

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 was beloved by fans for a lot of reasons: the wedding, the honeymoon, the honeymoon, the honeymoon, and a whole lot of drama and blood and guts at the end. But it was still lagging behind its older Twilightsiblings in box office numbers. New Moon had a bigger opening weekend ($142.8 million vs. $138.1 million), and both Eclipse and New Moon had bigger overall domestic box office grosses (Eclipse raked in $300.5 million, New Moon $296.6 million, Breaking Dawn Part 1$280.3 million), according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.
But per Deadline, Summit announced that the global box-office gross for the fourth flick is $701.3 million so far, and once the final tallies are in, including the receipts from China and Japan, it will top New Moon’s $709.8 million worldwide gross. So is that a big vote for Bill Condon from the international audience? Does it reflect the gradual growth ofTwilight fandom over the years (we imagine young kids catching onto their older sisters’ enthusiasm, friends giving into other friends’ relentless endorsements, etc.)? Is it the lure of Edward and Bella finally doing it? That extra foreign boost usually goes to big, explosive action movies that don’t need a whole lot of translation, and Eclipse was the movie with all the big battle scenes, so we’re curious about this number. Share your theories in the comments and on Twitter! And while you’re at it, let us know what you’re excited to rewatch when Part 1 comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray on February 11.
