A dramatic late equalizer from Pontus Wernbloom cancelled out Cristiano Ronaldo's first-half strike as CSKA Moscow drew 1-1 with Real Madrid at the Luzhniki Stadium on Tuesday.

The hosts made a positive start to the match, with Seydou Doumbia and Ahmed Musa looking dangerous with their electric pace and dribbling ability, but no clear-cut chances were created and Madrid managed to start to impose themselves on the game.

The ascendancy of the visitors stalled slightly due to an injury to Karim Benzema a quarter of an hour in to play. The Frenchman went down innocuously and had to be withdrawn due a problem with his groin.

Mourinho's men had a great chance to take the lead after 17 minutes but were denied by a terrific double save from Sergey Chepchugov.

Higuain latched on to a loose ball just outside the box and lashed a left-footed shot at goal that was palmed away by the CSKA goalkeeper, who got up instantly to tip Sami Khedira's rebound over the bar.

The breakthrough did eventually come for Real Madrid, through Portuguese pair Ronaldo and Fabio Coentrao.

The left back found himself in an advanced position down the left wing and whipped a cross to the back post which proved too much to handle for Zoran Tosic, who awkwardly headed the ball into the path of Ronaldo. The Madrid talisman then showed great composure to drill a left-footed half-volley at goal, which squeezed past Chepchugov.

The second half went through with the Real Madrid defense looking relatively comfortable, as the hosts struggled to break through a solid back-line.

The Spanish outfit had an excellent opportunity to double their lead in the 75th minute but another good save from Chepchugov kept his side in the match. Ronaldo broke the CSKA offside trap and ran through on goal attempting to take the ball around the goalkeeper, who remained big to make an important save.

Ronaldo should have doubled his tally seven minutes from time when he found himself with plenty of space on the edge of the box but dragged his shot wide of the left-hand post.

The win looked to be in the bag for Real Madrid, but CSKA had other ideas. In the last minute of injury time, Alexey Berezutskiy got on the end of a deep cross to head the ball back into the danger area of the Madrid box, and Wernbloom was there to smash home from seven yards.

This leaves the tie between CSKA Moscow and Real Madrid perfectly poised for the second leg two weeks from now at Santiago Bernabeu, but the hosts will certainly be buoyed by the manner of their equalizer.
She was one of the first celebrities to voice her sadness over Whitney Houston’s death, and just over a week on from the tragic event emotions were obviously still running high for Mariah Carey when she talked about the singer’s passing on Good Morning America.
The songstress arrived at the programme’s NY studios earlier dressed all in black and when probed about Whitney’s death she obviously found it hard to fight back the tears, however she said:
"I'm almost incapable of talking about this still. It's very heavy emotionally."
Talking about her friendship with the star she went onto say:
"It was great and I don't think people could ever understand our relationship. There was always this supposed rivalry in the beginning and then we did the duet and we became friends, I saw her toward the end and you know I loved her. We all loved her and were inspired by her.”
Mariah was also one of the attendees at Whitney’s funeral in New Jersey over the weekend, an experience she describes as “beautiful”, saying:
“It was gorgeous, such a class act the way she went out and the way her family dealt with it, I was very moved and it was beautiful.

Nicola Roberts and Kanye West both have a passion for fashion, but that’s where the similarities end.
Nevertheless the former Girls Aloud singer was so taken with the rapper when they shared the front row at the Mark Fast catwalk show in London yesterday that afterwards she Tweeted:
“My obsession with Kanye just hit a new high after meeting him at Mark Fast show.. #LFW.”
She then added, “I really love him.”
Wow, ever heard of playing it cool, Nicola?

Didn't get the memo? Hillary Clinton dons lime green shirt for G20 'family photo' while everyone else wears white

up in an outfit not suited to the dress code.
And unfortunately for Hillary Clinton, her slip up was witnessed by top government officials from across the globe.
Wearing a lime green shirt, the Secretary of State was placed in the middle of the foreign ministers - all dressed in crisp white shirts - for a G20 'family photo' in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Raise your hand if you feel left out: U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was a stand out member at the G20 foreign ministers meeting in Mexico. While everyone else opted for white, she donned a lime green shirt

But rather than adding a red face to the fashion faux pas, Clinton appeared to be tickled by her choice of outfit, laughing with her fellow leaders as the photographer snapped away.
And perhaps Clinton's colourful choice was intended to make an impact on the special occasion - she is in Mexico for the first G20 Ministers of Foreign Affairs informal meeting.

The gathering is an opportunity for the U.S. and other G20 members to discuss how to boost sustainable development, food security and the international economy, among other issues.
The Department of State said: 'This visit is an opportunity to reinforce close relations among nations and to identify common objectives and strategies to address global challenges and ensure global prosperity.'

Unfortunately, Clinton's wardrobe choice meant she looked far from 'at one' with her international counterparts.
For the photograph, Clinton was joined by leaders including the EU's foreign policy representative Baroness Catherine Ashton, Mexico's Patricia Espinose and South Africa's Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.
But it was an outfit not unexpected from the Secretary of State, known for her loud-coloured, boxy jacket and trouser suit combinations.
She raised eyebrows on a state visit to Barbados in June 2010 when she chose a gaudy bright orange trouser suit to meet the country's vice president.
Her questionable fashion choices led Project Runway's Tim Gunn to ask the following year: 'Why must she dress that way? I think she's confused about her gender. All these big, baggy menswear tailored pantsuits? I'm really serious.'

The Department of State was unable to identify a dress code which the Secretary of State had missed.
On Monday, the second day of the meeting in Los Cabos, Clinton signed an agreement with Mexico for developing oil and gas reservoirs that straddle the countries' boundaries.
It is the first deal of its kind signed by the U.S., and the leaders hope it will offer incentives for U.S. energy companies to work with the Mexican state oil company, Pemex, to develop resources.
Mexican President Felipe Calderon said: 'With this, we are setting aside the old fear that honestly exists among many Mexicans that Mexico’s oil could be extracted from the other side. Any joint reservoir will be jointly exploited.'
U.S. Secretary of the Interior Kenneth Salazar called the agreement an historic step that 'opens to door to previously off-limits areas in the Gulf of Mexico', Bloomberg reported.
