transter window closed this night

9:10 PM GMT Sam Bisby reports from Goodison Park: “A massive round of applause rings out around Goodison Park as Everton’s new signing, striker Nikica Jelavic, is welcomed onto the pitch, with the Croatian donning the blue scarf of the Toffees and the home fans seem quite happy with their latest acquisition.”

Meanwhile, Goal.com International's Paul Macdonald discusses the player's move and whether he will be a hit in England:

"Jelavic's goalscoring record before moving to Ibrox left much to be desired, but he developed into an essential part of Rangers' side in his 18 months in Scotland. The focus of the team's attack was based entirely around his physical presence, but also his adept touch and his finishing prowess. The inevitable questions will be asked regarding his ability to transfer his prolific form from a diminishing SPL into an all-star Premier League, but at Everton he will be given the platform, and crucially an extended run in the side, to convince those doubting his talents."

9:02 PM GMT On Twitter, Ryan Lam has a warning for the Russian club: "Pavlyuchenko is not worth €9 million, what are Lokomotiv Moscow thinking!!! #goallive"
8:49 PM GMT Goal.com UK Chief correspondent Wayne Veysey with the latest on Roman Pavlyuchenko's future: “It's all happening at Tottenham on the striker front. Roman Pavlyuchenko is on the verge of a move to Lokomotiv Moscow for €9 million. The two clubs have agreed a fee and the player is now discussing personal terms, which are not expected to be a problem. This means that Louis Saha will almost certainly be joining on loan from Everton to take Pavlyuchenko's place.”

8:40 PM GMT Earlier in the day we revealed that Santos formally rejected a bid from Portofor Ganso. In fact, the president of the Brazilian club, Luis Alvaro Ribeiro, called the reported€8 million approach "comical".

Some of our readers have left thier comments, here's a slection of the best ones and many seem to agree with Ribeiro:

Berisso Brizzy ‎believes he is worth three time as much
KarimBenzema HalaMadrid labels Ganso the best attacking midfielder in the world, and thinks the bid is far too low.
Finally, Tumelo Ndamase is adamant Santos will not sell any of their stars at the moment and saya the European teams will have to wait.

8:29 PM GMT We take a turn to La Liga, where Villarreal have signed 24-year-old Argentine striker Alejandro Martinuccio from Fluminense on loan. Could it be a pre-emptive move on the Yellow Submarine's part to replace Nilmar in case of a departure?
8:18 PM GMT A bit of business from the Eredivisie, Twente have acquired forward Glynor Plet on a three-and-a-half year deal, with the option for a further year, from Heracles.

Our Dutch football editor Stefan Coerts analyses the signing: "Twente needed a new striker after the departure of Marc Janko to Porto and have now found their man in Glynor Plet. The 25-year-old has been in superb form for Heracles this season, scoring 10 goals in 19 Eredivisie appearances, and will have to fight it out with Luuk de Jong for the position up front."
8:02 PM GMT Some news from Spain, Atletico Madrid midfielder Fran Merida will return to the club, being recalled from his loan spell at Braga.
7:56 PM GMT Our friends from the UK edition inform us: We have some transfer news for you. Goal.com understands that Tottenham are in advanced talks with Juventus over a loan deal for Milos Krasic. Exciting times. We can also tell you that Bobby Zamora is now at Loftus Road to complete his move to QPR from Fulham.

7:48 PM GMT OFFICIAL: Lucho Gonzalez has completed his return to Porto fromMarseille, signing a contract until 2014.

Goal.com International's Portuguese Football editor Luis Mira believes the midfielder's presence will prove to be a boost for the Portuguese champions: "Lucho will provide some much-needed creativity to Porto's midfield area, where Joao Moutinho was the only player who could do that. He became a fans' favourite at the Estadio do Dragao during his four years there and there is no doubt that his return comes as a massive boost to Vitor Pereira's side. The only question is how the coach will put together his new team, considering that Marc Janko is more of a target man, who requires a lot of service from the wings."
7:40 PM GMT Goal.com Netherlands' Yanick Vos has an update regading Ajax's Mounir El Hamdaoui move to Fiorentina, saying the deal has collapsed and Goal.com Italy's Sergio Stanco confirms that the Viola will not be able to register his contract as the window has shut in Italy.

7:14 PM GMT Another confirmed deal for you.

Sunderland
have completed the loan signing of Greek defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos fromWolfsburg.

And yes, it's the same rugged Greek centre-back who used to ply his trade at Liverpool.

7:03 PM GMT Also OFFICIAL: Ajax confirm that Juventus have signed 18-year-old starletOuasim Bouy.

Our Dutch Football editor Stefan Coerts will be producing an editorial on the hot prospect midfield signing on Wednesday, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
7:00 PM GMT Speaking of the Gunners, it's now OFFICIAL: Arsenal have signed Thomas Eisfeld from Borussia Dortmund.

Yesterday, Goal.com's German Footnball editor Clark Whitney analysed the transfer. Here are his thoughts:

"In Thomas Eisfeld, Arsene Wenger has signed a very raw talent, whose career could go anywhere. As a product of Dortmund's renowned youth academy, he comes with a formidable pedigree, but is one of many teen-aged attacking midfielders available for Jurgen Klopp's side. With Mario Gotze and Moritz Leitner already ahead of him, and Mustafa Amini and Leonardo Bittencourt having recently signed, there was no future for Eisfeld at the Westfalenstadion.

Eisfeld nonetheless is a very capable player, one who has shown great determination in the face of adversity. A torn ACL in 2009 was a great setback in his career, and explains his omission from the German youth national teams. However, he has bounced back and, in 12 appearances for the BVB U19s this season, scored six goals. Having proven himself in Wenger's eyes, he certainly has potential waiting to be tapped."
6:47 PM GMT Many Arsenal supporters are wondering why their club has been fairly quiet in the winter transfer window and their club's chief executive Ivan Gazidis gives them an answer.

“[Our model] does mean we can't afford to compete with oil money, and we can't afford to compete with super-wealthy individuals from Russia,” Gazidis told Fox.

“But I think the more important thing about our model is that it's sustainable.

“If we've learned anything from the world's economic crisis, it has to be that football clubs need to have responsibility - not just for today, but for their own futures - and our business model means that we can continue to do what we're doing forever.

“Our focus is always on young players, we've got a fantastic development system and still there are young players coming through consistently from our youth ranks and that'll continue to be the way Arsenal do things.”
6:41 PM GMT We also have a question from Peter Taylor: Was there any substance toManchester City wanting [Roma midfielder Daniele] De Rossi earlier in the window? #deadlineday #goallive

The player's deal runs out at the end of the year and he has been engaged in contract negotiations for some time with the Giallorossi.

Goal.com International's Italy football editor Kris Voakes answers this one: "There was a lot of substance to it, with Roberto Mancini a big fan of the midfielder's. But the City board were steadfast in their insistence that sales had to come before purchases, meaning De Rossi stays at Roma... for now, at least."

6:27 PM GMT Lazio have seemingly failed to sign a striker and Twitter user Dajan Situmcomments: "So no Honda and no Nilmar? Not a great window for Lazio"
Our deputy editor Carlo Garganese agrees saying: "I think Lazio have to be considered losers in this transfer window, not buying a forward. If Klose gets injured they are in a world of trouble."

6:12 PM GMT It should be noted, that the transfer window is now closed in ITALY. Many of the other countries in Europe continue until midnight.

This means that the Serie A clubs can continue to sell, but cannnot make any more signings. A couple more deals may just be finishing up, but it looks like most clubs stayed thrifty in the peninsula this winter.
6:04 PM GMT OFFICIAL: Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of midfielderThiago Motta from Inter.

The player's presentation will be tomorrow alongside sporting director Leonardo. He will be wearing the No. 28 for the Ligue 1 leaders.

5:58 PM GMT Some Tweeps are commenting on Liverpool's apparent lack of action during the transfer window, the Reds fans asking for some help up front...

"Liverpool need a bent or Defoe or Barrios or someone to play with Suarez upfront," writes Aziz.

Someone, anyone. Just not Andy Carroll?

Keeping with LiverpoolDragan Mandic wants the club to seal a deadline-day move forDemba Ba. Don't hold your breath.
5:55 PM GMT Deputy editor Carlo Garganese gives us another juicy tidbit, saying thatLazio's deal for striker Nilmar from Villarreal has collapsed.

5:51 PM GMT Some more deals from around Europe.

Goal.com Italy's Sergio Stanco informs us AC Milan have completed the signing of Lucas Roggia, Brazilian atatcker born in 1991, from Internacional.

Elsewhere, International's Enis Koylu reports that Colin Kazim Richards (or the whimsically named Kazim Kazim) has made the switch from Galatasaray to Olympiacos.
5:42 PM GMT More official news comes from the Eredivisie, where 25-year-old wingerWesley Verhoek has completed a move from ADO Den Haag to Twente.

Goal.com's Dutch Football editor Stefan Coerts gives us his take on the intrguing transfer of one of the country's developing talents: "He was one of the key players in the ADO Den Haag side that sensationally qualified for Europa League football last season, and was even being mentioned as a candidate for Oranje at one point. He was believed to be on his way to Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window, but eventually opted to stay with ADO. After a move to Vitesse earlier this winter fell through, he's now got his desired move to a bigger club after all."

5:39 PM GMT TRANSFER UPDATE: Barcelona have released Alexander Hleb from his contract. The former Arsenal midfielder is expected to complete a move to Olympiacos.
5:35 PM GMT OFFICIAL: As expected, Inter have idneed snapped up Italy internationalAngelo Palombo from Sampdoria. The midfielder has signed a contract until June 2015.

"I am very pleased to be joining Inter, a great team."
5:31 PM GMT Want some quotes from some of the deadline day players moving around? We've got them here:

Marc Janko (joined Porto): "It was very strange for me when there was much [of the deal] still to be completed. Of course you assume that everything will be okay, but still, what if it does not happen? Now everything is done and I can therefore only be satisfied. Goals, that is what is expected of me. The club was looking for a 'killer' in the penalty area, so they came to me. I'll do everything possible to meet these expectations."
Wayne Bridge (joined Sunderland): "I'm delighted to make the move - I've met the manager and the lads and everyone seems great. I'm just excited to start playing football. The club is on the up - the manager has come in and done very well. Just coming in and speaking to him, everything has been positive. I've trained with the lads and they are a great bunch who are feeling really positive. Hopefully I can help the club progress even more."

Simone Padoin (joined Juventus): "As soon as I heard that Juventus were interested in me, I put pressure on the management at Atalanta to let me go. Going to Juventus was a unique and very important opportunity. Here the philosophy is geared towards winning and I will put all my efforts in to contribute to their success, more so for the fact that I have not won anything yet."

One who did not move was Filippo Inzaghi, who stayed at AC Milan despite interest fromSiena:" I don't care if they don't play me; I love only this shirt, I'll stay."
5:20 PM GMT Meanwhile Goal.com UK's chief correspondent Wayne Veysey informs us thatArsenal rejected a bid from Fulham to sign striker Park Chu-Young on loan for the rest of the season.
5:16 PM GMT David Pizarro has just landed in Manchester to complete his loan move toMan City from Serie A side Roma. The Chile international's work permit has been approved.

5:12 PM GMT
From our friends over in the UK: One of Sky Sports' correspondents standing outside of Loftus Road has confirmed Fulham powerhouse Bobby Zamora is at the stadium for talks over a transfer.

Mark Hughes has already secured the services of Djibril Cisse today. Exciting times at QPR, it seems.
5:09 PM GMT There are reports coming through that Paris Saint-Germain have signed 22-year-old striker Leandro Damiao from Internacional for a whopping price tag of €30 million.

Stay tuned as we try and get that confirmed, so far neither club have commented on the deal....Have PSG picked up another marquee signing?
5:04 PM GMT Our Spanish football editor Ben Hayward informs us of some news through his Twitter (@bghayward) account:

Barcelona's
forgotten man, Alexander Hleb, could join Olympiakos. The clubs are in negotiations at the moment over the Belarus midfielder #deadlineday #goallive

5:01 PM GMT Our knowledgable, and sometimes friendly, editors have answered afew of your questions:

Jason Kwang asks about another potential departure from Paris Saint-Germain: How about Clement Chantome? Who is interested in him?

French Football editor Robin Bairner: "I've heard some EPL clubs are interested, with Fulham being the major whisper earlier today, although that seems to have died down.

The chat is that with the arrival of Thiago Motto, PSG will have too many similar central midfielders, and it seems that Chantome will be the player cut from the squad.

Having been watched by Arsenal a good deal earlier in his career, he could be a fine addition for a bargain-hunting club."
Meanwhile, @OrgenK wants to know whether Mauro Zarate will be leaving Inter and if they will find a replacement.

Deputy editor Carlo Garganese: "There has been nothing new on Zarate today. Saying that, Lazio are desperate to sign a striker and he could cut his loan spell short and return there if they fail to seal a deal for Villarreal's Nilmar.

It's very unlikely Inter will sign a forward. They made a late enquiry to Genoa regarding Rodrigo Palacio, but it was rejected."
4:44 PM GMT Goal.com International deputy editor Carlo Garganese informs us thatSampdoria midfielder Angelo Palombo is in the midst of signing his contract with Claudio Ranieri's side and official confirmation is expected shortly. #goallive
