Ear we go! Alicia Keys stands out from the crowd with a pair of $5,000 gold and diamond cuff earrings
It’s one of the biggest nights of the year in the music calendar so Alicia Keys was determined to stand out among her peers at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas last night.
The 31-year-old singer sported a simple, figure hugging Azzedine Alaia couture gown and Brian Atwood heels but it was her diamond ear cuff earrings which had everyone talking as she walked the white carpet at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The stunning gold and diamond Repossi cuffs – which retail for a cool $5,000 – were the focus of Alicia’s outfit thanks to a braided up-do which ensured her earrings were on full display.
Alicia – who was a contender for best dressed of the night – wisely kept the rest of her accessories simple, choosing only a Jennifer Fisher handpiece to complete the look.
She also added a pop of colour with a slick of bright lipstick.

Keys’ husband Swizz Beatz was on hand to offer moral support as his wife presented the Billboard Icon Award to Stevie Wonder before performing a duet with the legendary singer.
Swizz kept his look simple so as not to detract from his stunning wife, sporting a dapper white suit and taupe Gucci loafers along with a jaunty hat as the couple left 19-month-old son Egypt at home to enjoy a rare date night.

However, Alicia had competition in the statement earrings stakes as I’m Like A Bird singer Nelly Furtado also chose to put the focus on her accessories with a pair of dangerous looking pointed earrings.
Perhaps she was trying to distract from her white, beaded Alberta Ferretti dress which failed to flatter her stunning figure.
Nelly also made a fashion faux pas by teaming the ensemble with black underwear which was clearly visible through the fabric.

Things didn’t go much better for Nelly when she took to the stage to perform Big Hoops (Bigger The Better).
The 33-year-old singer sported an unflattering all-black and topped it off with a pair of bright red plastic hipster glasses.

The 18-year-old singer decided to take Virginia high school student Cady Eimer, also 18, as his date to the Billboard Music Awards yesterday after he couldn't make it to her senior prom following her invitation.
So, instead, Bieber decided to make all of Cady's dreams come true by inviting both Cady and her sister to attend the awards with him.

The Boyfriend singer told People.com: 'I couldn't make it to prom so I said I need you to fly to the Billboard Awards and you can be my date.

'She's a big fan and I thought it would be fun.'
However, there was one prom-like accessory that Bieber forgot to purchase, as he admitted: 'I didn't get her a corsage.'
But despite the absence of a corsage, Cady still had the night of her life, and tweeted after the occasion that she had thoroughly enjoyed herself.
She wrote: 'Not gonna lie, I'm sad today's over. it was so much fun.'
Bieber inviting Cady to the awards came just a few months after he granted the wishes of a six-year-old girl who struggles from a rare cancer.
The singer met and 'married' Avalanna Routh on Valentine's Day. The pair spent the afternoon playing board games, eating cupcakes, signing autographs for each other before deciding they would get 'married'.
When asked how long she had loved Bieber, six-year-old Avalanna said: 'Seven years. No - 80 years.'
And in 2010, Bieber delighted three-year-old Cody, whose crying over the teen singing sensation in a YouTube video became a hit worldwide.
After finding out about little Cody, US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel invited her and her family to the show, before surprising her with an appearance from Bieber.
