You gave me the best news of the world': Mario Balotelli is delighted as Raffaella Fico confirms unborn child is his

He may have been crying tears of sadness after his country lost to Spain last night but, Mario Balotelli already received some consolation before the game had been played.

The Italy striker's ex-girlfriend Raffaella Fico had told him ahead of the semi-final match against Germany, that she was pregnant with his child.

The 24-year-old model has confirmed that the baby she is having belongs to the footballer dubbed Super Mario.

Speaking to Italian website Sport Mediaset, she said: 'I called the day before the game against Germany and I said, I'm expecting a baby, it's your baby.

'After a pause he said 'You gave me the best news of the world.''

Raffaella was surprised when she discovered that she was pregnant in the middle of May, because she ended her relationship with Mario on 29 April.

She kept the good news to herself after taking a test but eventually revealed the pregnancy to some of her family.

She told the website: 'I went to a pharmacy outside Milan to buy a pregnancy test and I found I was pregnant. But I only told my mother and my brother.'

Rafaella now claims that a delighted Mario, 21, is eager to commit to her and rebuild their failed relationship.

She said that he never stopped loving her and he always wanted to have a son with her and even get married.

She said: 'Last Christmas, he told me, 'let's get married and make a son', and I accepted.'

Unfortunately the couple broke up after his numerous alleged affairs, but Fico, who was spotted showing off her bump last week in Rome, is certain things will be different this time.

She insists that she does not need money and never intended to trap a rich footballer, however, her offspring will bring plenty of pride to Balotelli, who stormed off the pitch after last night's defeat.

Raffaella, who has appeared on Italy's Big Brother and previously dated Cristiano Ronaldo, added that although the sex of the baby is unknown, Mario will choose the name.

She started dating the Man City player at the start of last year but he was accused of meeting former escort Jennifer Thompson - who had advertised herself as a £1,200-a-night call girl under the name 'Juicy Jeni'  and previously enjoyed a fling with Wayne Rooney - five times and had sex with her twice behind Miss Fico’s back.

Last night the footballer was crying uncontrollably and pushed an official out of the way as he left the pitch following Italy's four goal thrashing.

And Kanye West got a taste of his own medicine at the BET Awards last night.

The 35-year-old rapper took to the stage with Jay-Z to accept the Best Video Of The Year award for the pair's track Otis.

As he began his speech with, 'I want to thank BET....' Jay promptly butted in, saying 'Excuse me Kanye I am going to let you continue...'

What the cheeky rapper and husband of Beyonce was referring to was the moment West leaped from his seat and ran on stage during Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Music Awards.

He took to the microphone while the Country Music star was addressing the crowd and said the gong should have gone to his friend Beyonce, for Single Ladies.

Jay-Z's gag last night elicited roars of laughter from the crowd who all immediately got the joke.

A slightly embarrassed Kanye laughed it off, telling his friend: 'I am trying to defend you girl man!' referring to Beyonce, who was also in fits of giggles in her seat.

The hip hop star, who had been swigging Hennessy cognac on the red carpet earlier in the night, was booed roundly by the celebrity-packed audience of thousands.

And it was only the first category of the night.

Swift had breathlessly began her speech with the words, 'I always wondered what it would be like to maybe win one of these some day, but never actually thought it would happen'.

But before she could continue any further, West leaped from his seat in the audience, ran onto the stage and rushed to grab the microphone as a bemused Swfit struggled to take in what was happening.

West told the stunned star: 'Yo Taylor. I'm really happy for you, I'm going to let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.'

Cameras cut to Beyonce in the crowd who looked shocked and mortified.

As West shrugged his shoulders and handed back the microphone, a shell-shocked Swift stood in the centre of the stage seemingly unable to continue.

However, she was given another chance to say her piece when Beyonce did win an award for Single Ladies, in the Best Choreography category.

First she told the audience about her first VMA win as a 17-year-old with Destiny's Child and how much it meant to her and then she sportingly brought the teen singer back on stage to huge applause.

The pair, both dressed in bright red, embraced before Beyonce passed the microphone to Swift.

West was later ejected from the awards show at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

He apologised for his outburst on his blog later.

He wrote: 'I'm sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom.'

He added: 'I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment. Beyonce's video was the best of this decade . . . I'm sorry to my fans if I let you guys down . . . I'm sorry to my friends at MTV . . . I will apologise to Taylor.'

It is not the first time he has made his feelings known at award ceremonies.

At the 2007 MTV VMAs, he was caught on camera ranting backstage because he had not won for the second year in a row and in 2004, he stormed out of the American Music Awards for losing the best new artist category.

And at the MTV Europe awards in 2006, Kanye jumped onstage after losing out on the Best Video award for Touch The Sky to Simian.

Grabbing a microphone during their speech, he claimed his video should have won because it 'cost a million dollars, and Pamela Anderson was in it. I was jumping across canyons.'

He later admitted to having a 'sippy sippy' before the performance.

For her part, Swift called the evening 'interesting.'

'I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I'd just won the award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage,' Swift recalled after the show. 'And then I wasn't excited anymore after that.'

She later said she had been getting many messages of support and that she felt indebted to Beyonce for giving up her moment to allow her to speak.

'It was just so wonderful and so incredibly classy of her and just gracious and wonderful to let me say something.

'She's just been my hero and one of my idols ever since I was little. Before the talented artist, the superstar, she's always been a great person and I just, I thought I couldn't love Beyonce more tonight, than tonight.'

Swift said she didn't have any ill-will toward the rapper of whom she said she was once a fan.

'I don't know him, and I've never met him, so...' she said. 'I don't want to start anything because I had a great night tonight.'
