ONE DAY I WILL BOX WITH PACQUIAO AND MAYWEATHER

Lose against Molina and dream of Pacquiao  or Mayweather fight is over, admits Khan

convincing win in his comeback against unbeaten Carlos Molina next month or kiss goodbye to any chance of super-fights against the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
Khan's career has lurched dangerously off course in the past 11 months, with his deeply controversial points defeat to Lamont Peterson last December followed by a crushing fourth round knockout loss against Danny Garcia in July.
Those twin setbacks have left Khan with no margin for error as he prepares to face Molina in the American’s backyard at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on December 15.

'There’s always pressure when I fight but I definitely have to win this because if I lose, I’m done,' Khan said. 'This is a fight I need to win, 100 per cent. If I don’t win it I’m done. It’s that simple. The big super-fights I’ve always dreamed about won’t be there if I lose this. Pacquiao, Mayweather -- forget it'
In an attempt to revitalize his fortunes, Khan took the bold step of ditching revered trainer Freddie Roach in favour of the quietly-spoken San Francisco-based Virgil Hunter.
The 25-year-old Bolton light welterweight has been in camp at Hunter’s gym in Oakland and is reveling in the austere surroundings, where Hunter’s house rules a ban on swearing.
'It’s a very tight community in that gym. You need to have people there you trust. Virgil keeps it very limited and that’s what I like about it,' Khan said. 'You’re not bothered about who’s watching, you’re not training for a crowd, or fans.'

Khan was forced into an impromptu sparring session in early October when a gang of thugs attempted to steal a Ranger Rover he had been driving with his brother in Birmingham.
The confrontation ended abruptly with one of the would-be thieves being knocked out cold by Khan.
'I walked out of this café and I opened the car door and these guys jumped in the car ahead of me and said "This ain’t your car mate,"' Khan said.
'It was a courtesy car I’d be given so at first I did a double take and thought, "Maybe it’s not my car". Then I saw something in the back seat that I’d put there and I knew it was my car. Then the guys started saying – "We’re not getting out the car. You’re going to have to buy it off us". I had the car keys so I wasn’t too worried. I thought it was a joke. But then it got a bit serious and one guy came out aggressively and said "What are going to do?" And he jabbed me in the face. It wasn’t hard. He barely scratched me really. He tried to swing again and I knocked him out.

'I hated it to be honest with you. I never fight outside the ring. We’re born fighters, we’re taught how to fight.
'So when someone tries to fight you they’re making a big mistake. That’s when it got messy because they came out with baseball bats and sticks and smashed the rear window. They must have been drunk or high or something.'
Meanwhile Khan, who is engaged to New York student Faryal Makhdoom, has shrugged off revelations about his private life after allegations in The Sun he had been partying hard with other women in Marbella in August.
Khan insisted his fiancée trusted him.

President Obama Makes a Statement on Hurricane Sandy

US STOM

Hurricane Sandy could trigger deadly storm surge — and ‘take out’ the internet

The tech giants are believed to be fortifying their centres before the hurricane is due to strike tonight.
Major US cities including New York and Washington are braced today for a superstorm that threatens up to 50million Americans.

Hurricane Sandy was heading north from the Caribbean — where it left nearly five dozen people dead — to meet a winter storm and cold front, plus high tides and a full moon.
Experts predicted the resulting rare hybrid storm could be the “worst ever” to hit the US mainland.
Forecasters are predicting a potentially lethal “storm surge” as the hurricane hits Long Island Sound near New York.

Public transport networks, including subways, buses and commuter trains, as well as schools, have been shut down in areas including New York.
There are fears that parts of lower Manhattan could be swamped by the storm surge, flooding subway tunnels and crippling electrical and communications lines.
Sandy is predicted to wreak havoc across the eastern seaboard including the state of Virginia which is home to centres for Netflix, Amazon, Apple and Google providing data “cloud” storage.

Reports also say that the United States government also stores information on Amazon’s data centres.
Web experts Slashdot reported its fears after a violent storm in took out popular mobile photo-sharing service Instagram in June.
Slashdot commented: “With thousands of businesses and organizations relying on the cloud to store data the need to have exceptional security is standard. With the potential for hurricanes to increase in strength over the coming years, the effects of a hurricane hitting a cloud center could be substantial. Thankfully, many cloud providers take security seriously and work to ensure that data is both available and protected.”
Hurricane Sandy, a mammoth storm menacing the East Coast, took aim at the most densely populated U.S. region on Monday, forcing hundreds of thousands to seek higher ground, halting public transport and closing schools, businesses and government departments.

Hurricane Sandy: Thousands flee before storm

NEW York transport system shuts down, with airports closed, as the region prepares for Hurricane Sandy
Yesterday 375,000 residents of low-lying areas of New York were told to evacuate — and Governor Chris Christie urged New Jersey locals: “Don’t be stupid. Get out.”
Stephen Davenport, senior meteorologist at MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said Sandy may be losing power but is still expected to hit land at hurricane force.
He said: “Of course there will be fearsome winds before the centre hits so the winds will be building all the time today and could get up to 50mph-75mph.”
He said the storm is particularly large, affecting an area “half the size of Texas”.
New York is at the northern side of the hurricane, which is likely to produce a storm surge around Long Island Sound, he said.
“It’s going to be pushing the sea up there, so there’s going to be a strong storm surge up Long Island Sound. This will be why the mayor has ordered the transportation to be closed down.”
Asked how category one Hurricane Sandy compares with 2005’s deadly Hurricane Katrina, he said: “It’s not comparable at all. This is a category one and Katrina was a category five.
“But you don’t normally get hurricanes moving across the mid-Atlantic or near New York so people are somewhat less prepared for the possibility of hurricane.”
As rain from the leading edges of the monster hurricane began to fall, the 12 casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey, shut down for only the fourth time in the 34-year history of legalised gambling there.
And as winds started to build today, 17 people on board the tall ship the HMS Bounty were forced to abandon the vessel as it started to take on water and was left stranded around 90 miles (145km) south-east of Hatteras in North Carolina - around 160 miles (258km) west of the eye of Hurricane Sandy.

The coast guard in North Carolina received a call from the owner of the 180ft (55m), three-mast tall ship saying she had lost communication with the vessel’s crew late yesterday evening.
The ship - which featured in Pirates of the Caribbean - was reportedly taking on water and was without propulsion in 40mph (64kph) winds and 18ft (5.5m) seas.
The coast guard later confirmed it had been informed that the 17-person crew had abandoned ship.
“The 17-person crew donned cold water survival suits and lifejackets before launching in two 25-man lifeboats with canopies,” the coast guard said.

“The coast guard continues to monitor the situation and assess the weather conditions to determine the soonest coast guard aircraft or surface assets can be on scene to conduct effective rescue operations.”

STUNNING footage released by space agency reveals full magnitude of superstorm
Thousands of Britons had their American travel plans wrecked as the hurricane bore down on the US East Coast, with flights axed by British Airways as well as Virgin Atlantic.
British Airways had to axe all its flights to and from New York, Newark, Baltimore, Washington DC, Boston and Philadelphia.
This amounted to around 20 return flights, with a decision due to be made later today about tomorrow’s BA services to and from the American East Coast cities.
Virgin Atlantic also had to scrap its East Coast services today, cancelling flights to and from New York, Newark, Boston and Washington.
Virgin also axed flights from Newark and New York that had been due to arrive at Heathrow tomorrow morning.

Sandy was expected to hook left towards the mid-Atlantic coast and hit land late Monday or early Tuesday — most likely in New Jersey.
Forecasters said giant waves and high tides made worse by the full moon could drive an 11ft wall of water towards New York City, Long Island and northern New Jersey.

They also warned the superstorm could bring nearly a foot of rain, a potentially lethal storm surge and punishing winds stretching hundreds of miles. It could even dump up to 2ft of SNOW in Kentucky, North Carolina and West Virginia.
States of emergency were declared across the threatened area. New York and Philadelphia shut down their subways, buses and commuter trains last night and announced schools would be closed on Monday. Boston, Washington and Baltimore also cancelled school.

Some experts feared flooding could knock out the underground network of power, phone and high-speed internet lines in New York.
Wary shopkeepers boarded up their premises in readiness for the arrival of the storm.
Presidential rivals Barack Obama and Mitt Romney could also see their campaign plans disrupted - as many areas they seek to canvass go into shutdown.

British Airways has grounded all flights to and from the US Eastern Seaboard, including New York, Baltimore, Washington, Boston and Philadelphia.
A number of BA flights from the US to London have also been halted.
Virgin Atlantic has cancelled flights to and from New York, Washington and Boston.
A statement on BA’s website said: “We understand that customers may be disappointed, however their safety is our highest priority. We are offering the option to rebook or receive a refund to those customers whose flights are cancelled."

Van Persie shares in Muamba's special day as first picture emerges of fairytale wedding

Seven months ago he was lying on the White Hart Lane turf after collapsing and suffering a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup tie, with doctors saying he was ‘in effect dead’ for almost 80 minutes.
But following on from his miraculous recovery earlier this year, ex-Bolton Wanderers star Fabrice Muamba married his fiancée Shauna last Saturday at the 19th century Peckforton Castle in Cheshire.
And the first picture from the ceremony shows the happy couple with Manchester United striker Robin van Persie and his wife Bouchra, who were part of a star-studded guest list from the world of football.

NOW IS A REFEREE ....EPL RACISM

FA turn to video evidence after ref Clattenburg is accused of racially abusing Mikel and calling another Chelsea player a 'Spanish t**t'

The FA are set to review video evidence after referee Mark Clattenburg was accused of aiming a racist insult at Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel during Sunday's 3-2 home defeat by Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Why assistant refs could be crucial...

The FA and Premier League could ask Sky TV for footage from the 20 camera angles used for the big live matches to help confirm whether Mark Clattenburg made an inappropriate or racially aggravated comment. Premier League refs wear microphones, which means evidence from Michael McDonough and Simon Long — who both ran the line — and fourth official Michael Jones may prove crucial.
The FA will now request all footage from Sky Sports from the game. While not all are recorded, they should help confirm whether Clattenburg made an inappropriate or racially aggravated comment.
Chelsea made the official complaint at 7.45pm on Sunday night, but Clattenburg had already been confronted by then.
Chief executive Ron Gourlay, with Mikel and manager Roberto Di Matteo, demanded an apology during stormy scenes in the referee’s room.

Clattenburg refused and Chelsea decided to take the incredible action of launching an immediate complaint to the Premier League, via match delegate Nick Cusack, over his language
John Terry, serving a four-match ban for racially insulting Anton Ferdinand last October, wore a Kick It Out badge as he watched from the sidelines.
Rio Ferdinand, fined £45,000 for his ‘choc ice’ tweet, also ended his feud with Ashley Cole when they shook hands before the game.
But all that was forgotten amid dramatic scenes nearly two hours after the final whistle.

Home players heard the alleged comment to Mikel and will back up his story. Clattenburg said he would  co-operate with any inquiry.
Professional Game Match Officials, the body which represents Premier League referees, released a statement which read: ‘PGMO is aware of the allegations and they are being treated with the utmost seriousness. Mark will co-operate fully and welcomes the opportunity for the facts to be established.’
