United 8, Chelsea 8, Liverpool 3, Spurs 1... and Arsenal 0
Arsenal's shock defeat at Bradford in
the Capital One Cup last night took away one of the Gunners' chances to
end their long trophy drought.
They last lifted some silverware in May 2005.
Here,Sportsmail looks at the teams who have tasted success since Patrick Vieira lifted the FA Cup some seven and a half years ago...
Long wait: Patrick Vieira was the last Arsenal captain to celebrate success, lifting the FA Cup back in 2005
MANCHESTER UNITED (Eight trophies)
The Red Devils have seen a constant return in silverware for their heavy investment in a new generation.
Sir Alex Ferguson's men have won the Carling Cup three times - 2006, 2009 and 2010.
United
have claimed four more Premier League titles (2007, 2008, 2009 &
2011), while going one better than the Gunners and lifting the Champions
League trophy with victory over Chelsea in Moscow three years ago.
CHELSEA (Eight trophies)
Under
Jose Mourinho, Chelsea became the new power brokers in London,
eventually becoming United's main challengers as Arsenal faded.
Chelsea
have claimed the Premier League title twice (2005-06 & 2009-10)
including their double of two years ago, which was one of four FA Cup
final victories (2006-07, 2008-09, 2009-10 & 2011-12).
Just
for good measure, the Blues beat Arsenal in the 2006-2007 League Cup
final and then, memorably, won the Champions League in May, beating
Bayern Munich on penalties.
Kings of Europe: Chelsea won the Champions League last season
LIVERPOOL (Three trophies)
It
may have been a generation since Liverpool won the last of their 18
English championship titles, but the Reds have also lifted more
silverware than the Gunners of late.
The
first came just a few days after Arsenal's FA Cup penalty shoot-out win
in Cardiff, with Steven Gerrard leading a famous fightback against AC
Milan, having trailed 3-0 at half-time to lift the European Cup in
Istanbul.
A year later,
Gerrard was again the driving force as Rafael Benitez's men came from
behind to beat West Ham on penalties and win the FA Cup on spot-kicks at
the Millennium Stadium.
This year, they needed penalties to see off Cardiff in the League Cup final, but it was a trophy all the same.
MANCHESTER CITY (Two trophies)
After
the investment of Arab money, it always seemed like a matter of when
and not if Manchester City would get their name on the honours board,
and that day arrived in May 2011 when Yaya Toure's goal won them the FA
Cup.
Earlier this year,
they went one better, winning the Premier League title with virtually
the last kick of the season, Sergio Aguero`s goal instantly becoming an
all-time magic moment.
City slickers: Manchester City toasted their title success back in May
TOTTENHAM (One trophy)
Spurs
have long had a taste for the cup competitions and displayed it in
2008, winning the League Cup under manager Juande Ramos. To make matters
worse, they drubbed Arsenal in the semi-final.
PORTSMOUTH (One trophy)
Before
Harry Redknapp worked his Midas touch at Spurs, the Englishman had
helped transform the fortunes of Portsmouth, guiding them to FA Cup
final victory over Cardiff in May 2008, before the south-coast club went
into financial meltdown.
Old boys: Former Gunners Nwankwo Kanu and Sol Campbell won the FA Cup with Portsmouth in 2008
BIRMINGHAM (One trophy)
The
Blues, battling for top-flight survival, were given little chance of
preventing Arsenal winning a first trophy since 2005. However, after
taking an early lead before the Gunners equalised, a dramatic
last-minute mix-up between Laurent Koscielny and keeper Wojciech
Szczesny gifted Obafemi Martins a winner and handed Birmingham only
their second piece of silverware in 136 years.
Cup-set: Birmingham shocked Arsenal at Wembley in 2011 to lift to Carling Cup
Community Shield wins not included: (Chelsea, two, Manchester United, four, Liverpool, one, Manchester City, one).
