Her win follows her phenomenal success at last year’s ceremony, where she scooped six gongs.
Embracing Rihanna on her way to the stage, Adele told the Staples Center audience in LA: "I just want to send big love to all of the other girls and all of us females doing this because we work so hard and we make it look so easy."
Mumford & Sons took home the biggest award of the night – the coveted Album Of The Year prize for Babel.
They also scooped the Best Long Form Music Video for their documentary film Big Easy Express.

Their duet saw Elton sat at his piano while Ed took centre-stage on his acoustic guitar, with the pair sharing vocals.
Show host LL Cool J followed up with his intro speech before the first award of the night was presented to Adele.
Beyoncé came onstage to present Justin Timberlake’s slick rendition of Suit & Tie, featuring a rap by her hubby Jay-Z, set amid a swing-era backdrop.
Alicia Keys and Maroon 5 also collaborated for a live performance, playing Girl On Fire and Daylight.
Kelly Clarkson unleashed her powerhouse vocals as she paid homage to Patti Page and Carol King, covering Tennessee Waltz and (You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman, respectively.
However, the highlight of the performances came near the end with a star-studded tribute to reggae king Bob Marley.
Bruno Mars and Sting kicked it off with Locked Out Of Heaven, before transitioning into Walking On The Moon by The Police – the band that shot the Brit to fame.
It reached its climax when Rihanna took to the stage with Bruno, Sting and Bob’s sons Ziggy and Damian for a moving rendition of Could You Be Loved.
