Tupac... lives! Snoop Dogg joined on stage by slain rapper as he's 'resurrected' to perform with Dr Dre at Coachella

It was already one of the most highly-anticipated performances of the Coachella festival this year.

But Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre achieved the impossible last night as they brought back late rapper Tupac Shakur for their headline performance.

Snoop was joined by a life-size hologram of Tupac who stunned the crowd of 75,000 fans when he appeared onstage

They said he wasn't dead: Tupac was resurrected - in hologram format - as part of Dr Dre's headlining Coachella performance last night in Indio, California

The bare-chested Tupac - who was dressed in sagging jeans and Timberland boots circa 1995, just like ones he wore around the time he was shot dead on September 13, 1996, aged 25.

And he greeted the roaring crowd saying:' What's up Coachella?' - a festival that wasn't even taking place at the time of his death - before joining Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre on hit single Hail Mary.

Shakur also joined Snoop for songs Come With Me and Gangsta Party stalking around the stage in his trademark style.

HOW TUPAC'S HOLOGRAM WAS CREATED

The image of a shirtless Tupac, wearing a pair of jeans and brown boots, was also seen interacting with Snoop - making it look incredibly realistic to the cheering crowd.

After performing the track Dr Dre came on stage and screamed: 'Make some f**ing noise for Tupac.'

The hologram of the late rapper had been programmed to greet the crowd by saying: '“what the f*** is up, Coachella?' 

And the stunt certainly drew some mixed reactions from those watching. 

While some argued that the inclusion of the late rapper's image was in bad taste, many of his celebrity fans took to  Twitter page to express their excitement over the dramatic performance.

Katy Perry tweeted: 'I think I might have cried when I saw Tupac.'

RIhanna added: 'TupacBack unbelievable Iwasthere Story4myGrandKidz (sic).'

The pair were later joined by famous friends including 50 Cent, Eminem and Wiz Khalifa. 

And following the performance, Khalifa tweeted: 'F*****g 2pac Ahhhhhhh!!! I Performed Wit Dr Dre And Snoop Dogg!!! Awww f*** Im So Happy To Be Alive. That Was The Best s**t I Seen In My Life! Thank Everybody!!! Snoop. Dre. Warren G. Pac. The Stoners. The Ratchet!!! Usher. 50 Cent. Coachella Was Life Changing!!!"

Tupac died in 1996 aged 25 after being shot four times, but is still one of the best-selling musical artists in the world.

The resurrection was achieved with the use of modern technology derived from a 19th Century technique called Pepper's Ghost. 

The very same technology was used to help Mariah Carey perform a special Christmas treat for fans in five different European cities last year.

The singer worked with Deutsche Telekom to appear in Germany, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Poland. 

Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre celebrated more than two decades performing together on stage at the music event in Palm Springs, California.

And Snoop, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr, decided to practice what he preaches and after telling fans to 'smoke weed everyday' the rapper decided to light up on stage.

The 40-year-old hitmaker was seen smoking a suspicious looking roll-up on stage in front of the packed out crowd.

Snoop was seen smoking several 'joints' throughout hour and a half set including a huge white 'cigarette' with his prodigy Khalifa, who is engaged to Kanye West's ex-girlfriend Amber Rose. 

The pair rapped about smoking weed while sharing the large roll-up.

As well as paying tribute to Tupac, Snoop and Dre also paid homage to another deceased friend, Nate Dogg, who passed away last March from complications relating to a series of strokes - he was just 41 years of age. 

Warren G joined the duo on stage to perform famous hit Regulate while pictures flashed up behind them.

Tens of thousands of music fans surrounded the stage to watch Snoop and Dre play their old hits including Old Pros, The Next Episode and Nuthin' But A 'G' Thang as well as some of their newer tracks.

Who's the bigger baby? Nick Cannon dresses like a kid as he steps out with Mariah Carey and twins  

He is well into his thirties but Nick Cannon is still one big child at heart. 

The 31-year-old rapper was seen dressed in an outfit much younger than his years as he stepped out with Mariah and his children yesterday. 

Nick had donned a pair of baggy shorts, a printed T-shirt and had his cap placed on the side of his head.

She was teetering along in a pair of bright red high heels as the family made their way to visit their showbiz friends Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz.

At the end of this month the family will be celebrating Roc and Roe’s first birthday and Nick told MailOnline that they are planning a lavish bash to honour the occasion at the Kids Choice Awards.

But just quite what the couple have in store is yet to be revealed. 

The 11-month old babies were seen sitting comfortably in their car seats, surrounded by some stuffed toys. 

And the little angels were just doted on by their parents, passers-by couldn't resist stopping to coo over 'dem babies.' 

One woman was seen beaming widely as she tried to catch one of the twin's attention.

Nick appears to have recovered from his recent health problems and looked happy and healthy during the family day out. 

Earlier this month the rapper shared a video of himself getting treatment after suffering from kidney failure. 

Fans saw Nick, who has also been diagnosed with a lupus-like disease, leaving hospital following treatment and his road to recovery after collapsing in January.

The 29-year-old singer and rapper has pulled down her social networking page after a fan site NickiDaily posted tracks from her relaunched album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

She tweeted: ‘And that's exactly why I'm paying the barbz DUST right now!

She posted: ‘On second thought I'll just follow a new set of barbz. The ones I follow r very mean and ratchet. *side eyes them* *looks into the sea for more.’

Her fans aren't the only ones who Nicki is fighting with - she has shocked her father by claiming she wanted to kill him in an interview.

'We were afraid for my mother's life because whenever he would have a real bad outburst he would threaten to kill her.'

However sources close to the family say her comments were highly exaggerated, that while Omar had anger issues, it wasn't as bad as she said.

He said he never knew she felt this was and loves her very much.

Katy was sporting a purple hue in her hair and had donned a pretty floral dress for the third day of the festival.

Earlier in the day Rihanna had posted multiple pictures of her antics around the sun-kissed California festival's grounds, giving her followers a taste of life in the pop superstar fast lane.

In the first image she is posing in front of a swimming pool while wearing a revealing outfit of denim hotpants and a top bearing the words Peace across the chest.

One image showed just her enviable figure as she reclined on a sunlounger which was captioned with the words ‘Gimme dat’.

Only her lips, which were covered in scarlet lipstick, were visible above her tanned and toned shape.

She then posted a face shot which also showed her cleavage in the denim bikini top as she relaxed against the sun-soaked Los Angeles backdrop, and was later seen at Coachella.

The singer was clearly catching up on some much-needed rest after touching down in Los Angeles the day before.

During her trip to Australia, the singer reportedly cut an interview with TV show Sunrise short after tiring of questions about her love life.
