Social media and electronic devices are taking over our lives.
So says, Professor Sherry Turkle, social theorist and the founder and director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Initiative on Technology and Self.

She studies how computers and technology are shaping our modern relationships with others and ourselves.
In her book, Alone Together: Why We Expect More From Technology and Less From Each Other, Prof Turkle argues that the social media we encounter on a daily basis are making us emotionally lazy and insensitive to fellow human beings.
She tells BBC Future about her fears for mankind in the future and why it is not too late to choose another way.
