TOP 10 OF UGANDA RICHEST MUSICIANS

The 10 Richest Ugandan Musicians

The 10 Richest Ugandan Musicians

The debate for who is the richest Uganda musician is one that has been ongoing for years now. Different musicians have come out and said they are the richest.
Truth is, music has in the past 12 years been a very profitable career. Several people have made millions out of music. However, it is very hard to know who the richest musician in our country due to absence of financial and business statistics.
Unlike developed economies were there is maximum compliance and mandatory declaration of contracts and businesses to revenue authorities, here it is not always done.
But, due to public demand, I have made thorough research on which musician owns what property in the country. The research included interviews with musicians, talent managers, direct observations, underground investigations and comparison with information from Bukedde newspaper.
It is from this research that I have put together a list of the top ten richest musicians. The list is not in any order (This list is not in 1 to 10 order). It is only a list of the ten richest musicians.
Basing on these findings, feel free to make a numerical 1 to 10 list of your choice.
Bebe Cool
He owns a full set sound system (PA) inclusive of a band, lighting and loud speakers that can serve an audience of 20,000 people.  It has been used at a number of concerts at Kiwatule recreation grounds. During his Bigsize concert at Kati Kati, the same music system was used together with Silk events.
He owns land in Kiwatule.
He is building 4 three bedrooms and self contained apartments in Kiwatule. (4 apartments each with 3 bed rooms)
He stays in a residential house in Ntinda. While some members of the public say he rents the house, Bebe Cool confirms ownership of this house. The Gagamel president told HiPipo.com on  sunday that those who say he does not own the house should present the rightful owner and house documents.
He drives a hummer which on buying (two and half years ago) was valued at USD 40,000 (about Sh 100 million) inclusive of taxes.   This is in addition to other cars he owns.
He is a major financier/funder for 52 children at Katalemwa charity home.
He has also involved in different charity activities aimed at raising funds for cancer treatment and kidney transplant.
Bebe Cool is also a proprietor of some private businesses though he is tight lipped to give details.
Jose Chameleone
He owns a residential posh flat in Seguku.
He drives a Range Rover and also has an Escalade and a BMW among other cars.
Last week, he unveiled the Daniella Villas (apartments) located in Namboole.
He has a yet to be finished beach named Coco Beach along Entebbe road.
Reliable information indicates that Chameleone is also building other apartments along Entebbe road and also owns rentals in Kawempe.
He also owns a person studio (Leone Island studio) that he usual uses to produce part of his songs before he gets other producers to complete them.
Jose Chameleone this year unleashed mobile phones branded Chameleone phones. According to dependable sources, Chameleone signed a partnership with Chinese Company that manufactures the phones. He pays the company its cost of production and transportation after which he takes the balance.
Bobi Wine
The self styled Ghetto Gladiator is living large. Here are some of his properties;
He owns Bukoto based Fire Records.
He owns a residential house in Magere and also does farming in Gomba.
He drives an Escalade while he bought his wife Barbie a Range Rover which he also drives some times. He also owns a Land cruiser.
He owns One love beach Busabala.
He also has some shops and rentals in Kamwokya and land in Wandegeya among other things.
Recently, he bought a boat which is branded ‘Regal Yacht’. This boat came with several talking points. While Bobi Wine says that it’s a new lavish yacht he bought at about Sh500 million, a great section of the public and media insists that it a second hand boat that Bobi Wine refurbished after purchase.
Ragga Dee
Ragga Dee is a veteran musician and popular businessman. He was the first musician to ever drive a hummer in Uganda.  He owns a beach at Busabala, Limo Life Company; dealing in cars for hire, deals in car importation, and owns a music studio. Ragga Dee also owns a posh house in Makindye.
Mesach Semakula
Mesach Semakula is a founding member of Eagles Productions. He owns Kann studio, has several plots of land in Luweero, Kisenyi and Buwaate. He also owns several apartments in Buwaate, Lubowa and Zzana and a big rental flat in Bunamwaya. Mesach is also constructing a flat in Buziga.
Ronald Mayinja
He is also a founding member of Eagles production. Ronald Mayinja owns Roma Hotel, has land in Buziga, two houses in Lukuli Nanganda, Roma Hardware in Kireka and several plots of land. He also owns trucks (mainly Lorries) hired to transport goods.
Geoffrey Lutaaya
Geoffrey Lutaaya is another founding member of Eagles production living a wealthy life. Geoffrey Lutaaya owns a chain of properties. These are; a lavish home in Munyonyo, Durban Motel along Entebbe, Dance Flo bar/club in Nateete and several plots of land.
He is also constructing a hotel along Busabala road in addition to different cars he and his wife Irene Namatovu (also musician with Eagles Production) own.
Grace Nakimera
Grace Nakimera drives a Prado. She owns Pinky Saloons in Kampala. She also owns land in Namugongo, Kisaasi, and Mukono district.
Haruna Mubiru
Formerly a member of Eagles production, Haruna Mubiru is now the founder and CEO of Kream production. He owns a well equipped Kream band, a flat in Kabowa, rentals in Kabowa, and expensive cars.
Goodlyfe crew
Goodlyfe crew has for the past four years collected several millions from their music. They own several properties include houses in Makindye, and several plots of land on Entebbe road. This is in additional to range of cars top members (Radio and Weasel) and the group managers (Jeff and Allan Kiwanuka) drive.
However, much as Goodlyfe makes the list, it is very hard to know how much Radio and Weasel own alone. Much of the property the group has purchased is under Goodlyfe crew. This makes it hard to know which properties are for Radio and Weasel, which are for their managers Jeff and Allan Kiwanuka and which ones are for the whole Goodlyfe crew.
The other musicians that are doing financially better than their peers thanks to revenues directly from their music are Juliana Kanyomozi, Navio, Iryn Namubiru, Eddy Kenzo, Maureen Nantume, Mathias Walukaga, Catherine Kusasira, Peter Miles, Irene Namatovu, and Angella Kalule.
Hope this partly answers the wealth question.
