Fergie: Foreign players are divers
HITTING BACK ... Manchester United Alex Ferguson
ALEX FERGUSON has hit back at Sergio Aguero and told the Manchester City striker: Foreign players only have themselves to blame.
The Argentine believes that English players get special “privileges” when it comes to decisions from referees in the Premier League.
His comments came after his City team-mates and countrymen Pablo Zabaleta and Carlos Tevez had penalty appeals turned down against Fulham.
But Manchester United boss Ferguson said: “As a subject it is not worth going down because we have known for quite a few years there are plenty of players diving and, you have to say, particularly foreign players.”
Ferguson, though, defended his own player Nani who himself had a penalty shout waved away by referee Chris Foy against Tottenham — and has also been accused of going down too easily.
And the Scot said: “Nani is not the type to dive. He has never been that type of player.
“It was a penalty kick on Saturday. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don’t.
“From the referee’s position it was difficult because there were plenty of bodies in front of him. The linesman could have helped him but he didn’t.”
Henry is US best
LEGEND ... Thierry Henry
THIERRY HENRY was dubbed “the best player in America” as he turned on another masterclass for New York in their 4-1 thrashing of Toronto.
The former Gunners hitman, 35, scored one and had a hand in THREE other goals.
He set the seal on an imperious display with an outrageous chip and the striker has now scored 14 goals in 21 starts this term, adding another 12 assists for the Red Bulls.
New York boss Hans Backe said: “Thierry was phenomenal. He set up every goal except his own.
“When he shines like this, you could say he’s the best player in the league.”
Henry, who set up two for Kenny Cooper and one for Markus Holgersson after Ryan Johnson gave Toronto the lead, said: “If I see a guy in a better position, I’ll try to pass it. It’s that simple.”
