The Merseyside derby ‘is as big as a football game can be’ according to Martinez and will certainly be the biggest game of the Spaniard’s Goodison career so far.
Things could be very different, however. Martinez could have easily been sat in the away team dugout on Saturday had he felt differently in the summer of 2012.
